ข้อมูลที่น่าสนใจ :  

       Gunter Schlierkamp เติบโตมาพร้อมกับการทำงานหนักในฟาร์มของครอบครัว เมื่ออายุ 16 ปี เขาสนใจเพาะกายและชื่นชอบตำนานอย่าง Arnold Schwarzenegger หลังจากดูภาพยนตร์ Conan the Barbarian และ Pumping Iron

       เขาเข้าแข่งขันเพาะกายรายการแรกด้วยการชนะเลิศรายการ German Championships, in the Junior division เมื่ออายุ 20 ปี และได้ใบรับรองเป็นนักเพาะกายอาชีพจากการประกวดในรายการ World Amateur Championships ( ขณะที่อายุ 23 ปี )

       ในปีพ.ศ. 2539 เขาตัดสินใจย้ายไปอยู่ที่สหรัฐอเมริกาเพื่อความก้าวหน้าในอาชีพนักเพาะกาย ในปีนั้นเขาเข้าแข่งขันรายการใหญ่อย่าง IFBB Arnold Classic และ IFBB Night of Champions 

       ในปีพ.ศ. 2545 แม้ Ronnie Coleman จะได้ Mr.Olympia สมัยที่ห้าของเขาในคืนนั้น แต่ Schlierkamp เป็นดาวเด่นและขวัญใจผู้ชมของการแข่งขัน มีเสียงโห่ดังระงมหลังจากประกาศผลว่าเขาได้เพียงอันดับที่ 5 ในปีเดียวกันนั้น เขาเอาชนะ Ronnie Coleman ได้ในรายการ GNC Show of Strength

       Schlierkamp ได้เป็นนักแสดงในภาพยนตร์เรื่อง Beerfest ในปี 2549
